-Don't trust anyone who you don't know well in real life. Only trust those who live close enough for you to walk over and kick them in the junk if they screw you over ingame.
-If your spidey senses are telling you it's a scam or a trap, it probably is. There's plenty of scams and traps going around. If someone is trying to make a deal with you and it seems far more complicated than it has to be, it's probably a scam.
-Never use the Trade window unless you completely trust the other person. A LOT of scams happen through the Trade window. So when dealing with people you don't trust, use contracts.
-If you make or are interested in accepting a contract, READ THE ****ING CONTRACT CAREFULLY! There is no reason to rush. If an individual is trying to rush you into accepting something, probably a scam.
-People lie. Deal with it.
-99% of all courier contracts are a scam.
-Be careful where and around whom you fly your expensive shiny toys.
-Nobody knows everything.
-Be wary of "armchair generals". Players who talk a big game and presume to speak with authority, but have never actually done the thing they're talking about.
-If you're in a semi large PvP fleet, shut the f*** up and do what your FC instructs the fleet to do, regardless if you agree with his decisions or not. From the FC's vantage point, he typically has a lot more information/experience on the situation than individual pilots do.
-If you have your own corp, you run it as a benevolent or malevolent dictator. Diplomatic corps don't function well. Never give out roles, hanger access or permissions to anyone who doesn't specifically need them. If John Doe is asking for access to corp hanger X, he better have a good ****'ing reason for asking for it. Otherwise the answer should be no.
-All ships die, sooner or later. Ships are not unique snowflakes to be treasured nor should you have any emotional attachment to them. They WILL be destroyed eventually.
-Recruitment scams happen. Some corps/alliances are so well known for recruitment scamming that you would have to be deaf and blind not to know who the common culprits are.
-The EFT is an amazing tool and something worth looking into. There are even apps for smartphones. I like to use an app called Neocom on my iPhone.
-Suicide ganking happens in highsec. It just does and there's nothing wrong or against the rules about it. Accept that fact. Be wary of carrying high value items in your ship around trade systems and trade routes. Carrying a PLEX in your cargohold is very risky and often a target for suicide gankers.
-Wrecks have no value according to Concord. Just because you blew up that NPC or player doesn't mean you're entitled to salvaging that wreck. Anyone with a salvaging module can swing by and take it without consequence. Wreck salvaging is first come first serve. Accept that fact. Trolling is like art. Anyone can finger paint, but it takes true talent to create a masterpiece. |
